Frontiers of Engineering Management (FEM) Journal

Recently, the journal "Frontiers of Engineering Management" (hereinafter referred to as "FEM") has been listed in the top tier (1st zone) of engineering and technology category by the Chinese Academy of Sciences' journal ranking system. This recognition highlights its significant influence within the field of engineering management.

The journal ranking system, established since 2004, is widely recognized in China's academic community as a reliable evaluation体系 for scholarly journals. It aims to assist researchers in identifying high-quality publications efficiently.

Professor Hongwei Wang, Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief from the School of Management at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, noted that FEM's inclusion in the 1st tier is a crucial milestone. "This achievement reflects the combined efforts of the editorial board, young associate editors, and the editorial team," he said. The journal focuses on advancing engineering management theories, applications, and fostering international collaboration.

FEM is jointly sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, China Higher Education Press, Tsinghua University, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. It is published quarterly in English by China Higher Education Press and Springer. The journal serves as an international platform for scholars, educators, and practitioners in engineering management, offering various article types including research papers, review articles, and reports to share cutting-edge knowledge.

Annually, FEM publishes over 50 articles covering eight key areas: industrial engineering and intelligent manufacturing, construction engineering and smart building, energy and environmental systems, transportation systems management, logistics and supply chain management, information management and信息系统, technology management and innovation, as well as system engineering theory and applications. Recent issues have focused on topics such as "Next-generation Smart Transportation Systems," "Urban Management for Resilience and Sustainability," "Enhancing Supply Chain Resilience Post-Pandemic," and "Frontier Applications of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence," aligning with current academic and technological advancements in China.

FEM has been indexed by notable databases including ESCI, Scopus, CSCD, FMS, and AMI. In November 2024, it was selected for the "Outstanding Academic Plan Phase II Project" as an English-tier journal. According to the JCR report, its impact factor reached 9.1 in 2023, ranking it at position 8/69 in the "Engineering, Industrial" category (Q1 zone).
